Dermal Fillers Q & A

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are a non surgical solution for treating facial lines, wrinkles, and creases that develop as you get older. Fillers can also restore lost volume in your lips and around your cheeks to improve the natural contours of your face.

The Center for Dermatology Cosmetic & Laser Surgery offers many popular dermal filler brands in-office. The physicians customize a treatment plan based on your unique facial features and your aesthetic goals.

Which dermal fillers are available?

Numerous dermal fillers are available to address smile lines, nasolabial folds, and crow’s feet. The providers also can restore lost facial volume that results as you get older, and your body slows down its production of the protein collagen.

Based on your needs and goals, the providers can recommend filler brands like:

Juvéderm®

Juvéderm is a family of injectables made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance already found in healthy skin. Juvéderm options include Vollure™, which helps smooth folds and wrinkles, Volbella® XC to plump up thin lips, and Voluma™ XC to lift sunken cheeks.

Restylane®

Restylane is another family of hyaluronic acid fillers that includes Restylane® Defyne or Refyne™ to smooth out wrinkles, restore lost facial volume, and enhance the size and shape of lips. Injections of Restylane Lyft™ can also improve the fullness of the skin on the back of your hands. Restylane Contour can help restore a soft contour to your cheeks and mid-face.

Radiesse®

Radiesse is a water-based gel filler that replenishes lost volume in your hands, so they appear firmer, smoother, and younger-looking, to restore lost volume. It is also used in a diluted form in the face, neck, chest, and arms to stimulate new collagen formation.

SKINVIVE™

SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® is the first and only FDA-approved hyaluronic acid (HA) microdroplet injectable in the US to improve skin smoothness of the cheeks. This product increases hydration to improve skin smoothness and provide a lasting glow for up to 6 months with optimal treatment. Also, in a clinical study, patients treated with SKINVIVE™ reported higher satisfaction with how glowing, hydrated, refreshed, and healthy their skin looked. *Compared to before treatment. Glow was reported by patients in a questionnaire using a validated scale that included satisfaction with how radiant their skin looked.

RESTYLANE EYELIGHT

Restylane Eyelight is an exciting new treatment option for patients. Formulated with NASHA Technology, this filler is close to the body’s natural hyaluronic acid with minimal crosslinking and produces a firm gel texture (or ‘supportive gel’) that is resistant to water absorption, which makes Restylane Eyelight a safe, natural-looking solution for volume loss under the eyes.

Many of my patients seek treatment for hollows under the eyes, and topical products such as creams, concealers and undereye masks just aren’t able to solve the problem and provide long-lasting results they are seeking. I’m pleased to see that Restylane Eyelight offers a safe, effective and natural-looking outcome that enables my patients to achieve their aesthetic undereye goals.

What are the benefits of dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are a minimally invasive way to enhance the appearance and health of your skin without incisions or downtime. Anyone who has otherwise healthy skin is a candidate for dermal fillers.

The providers at The Center for Dermatology Cosmetic & Laser Surgery follow customized treatment plans to ensure the results of your dermal filler injections always look and feel natural.

The different types of dermal fillers available also provide long-lasting results. Some brands, like Juvéderm, can last for up to a year before you need maintenance injections.
