Our skin is made up of 3 distinct layers that are kept healthy and soft by many important substances, including collagen. As we age, the collagen in these layers deteriorates, causing skin to sag, wrinkle, and loosen. Thermage is currently the only non-invasive procedure available that restores tightness and renews the collagen reserves in all 3 layers of the skin.

Thermage relies on radiofrequency energy to use your body's own collagen to improve the tone, contour, and texture of your skin. A completely non-invasive treatment, Thermage delivers results that are visible immediately and can last for years. A single quick, comfortable session is typically all that's required to improve the look of your face.

Are You a Candidate?

Because Thermage isn't a laser, it's safe to use on patients of a variety of skin tones and types. Thermage can help reduce wrinkles and tighten several areas of the face, including:

  • Eyes, including eyelids and under-eye area
  • Jawline
  • Lips
  • Forehead

At your initial consultation, your doctor will carefully evaluate your face to make good recommendations based on your ultimate goals. Most Thermage patients from Westchester County and elsewhere achieve their preferred results after just 1 session. If your skin has retained much of its elasticity but you're bothered by a double chin, Dr. Bank may recommend KYBELLA™ treatments.

Your Procedure

Though Thermage is not painful, it can cause some discomfort. Prior to your session, you may choose light pain medication to enhance your comfort.

During the treatment, patients report a brief sensation of warmth with each pulse of radiofrequency energy that's delivered to the skin. This energy penetrates the skin's layers, remodeling the underlying collagen to improve the tone and elasticity of the targeted skin.

Your Thermage session may last from 20 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the area you'd like to address.

Your Recovery & Results

Following treatment, you may experience slight redness of the affected skin, although the majority of people are able to resume their normal activities immediately. No special follow-up care is necessary.

Immediately following your treatment, you may notice that your skin feels smoother, tighter, or firmer. Some subtle contouring may begin to enhance the shape of your face. Over time, your skin will continue to improve as it produces new collagen. Your skin will gradually tighten up and regain a soft, youthful texture. These improvements can continue for up to 6 months, and results can last for years depending on your skin's condition and your own unique aging process. Our team can also recommend a variety of skin care products that you can use at home to further enhance your results.
