KYBELLA™

A well-defined chin and sculpted neckline can create a more youthful and attractive silhouette. That's why KYBELLA — also called the "double chin shot"— is such an asset at our Mt. Kisco practice serving patients from Westchester County and beyond. KYBELLA is the first and only non-surgical treatment approved by the FDA to reduce submental fat, or the stubborn, excess fat that accumulates on the upper neck and causes a double chin.

If you want to learn more about whether you are a good candidate for KYBELLA, request a consultation at our New York practice to discuss your options with Dr. David E. Bank, or call us at (914) 241-3003 to schedule an appointment.

Are You a Candidate?

A double chin is one of the most common cosmetic concerns, yet most people don't seek treatment because they believe surgery is the only option. Reasons for accumulating excess fat beneath the chin vary from patient to patient. Submental fat isn't limited to overweight women and men. Genetics and aging are 2 primary causes of a double chin, in addition to weight gain. It is similar to other localized areas of fat that resist diet and exercise.

You are a good candidate for KYBELLA treatments if you're concerned about the appearance of a double chin, but you don't want to pursue neck liposuction or other more invasive options. Relatively good skin tone is also beneficial because KYBELLA isn't a skin tightening treatment. If you have loose neck skin, you may want to consider a facelift to get the desired results.

Your Procedure

The active ingredient in KYBELLA is a synthetic version of a chemical called deoxycholic acid that's naturally produced by the body to help break down and destroy dietary fat. When injected in the area below the chin, it destroys fat cells to minimize the double chin.

Each KYBELLA treatment session begins with Dr. Bank or another member of our team carefully marking the injection sites. Each session includes multiple injections, and up to 6 separate sessions may be needed to get the optimal results. The treatments are scheduled about a month apart.

Once the area is numbed with a local anesthetic to enhance comfort, we begin the injections. The entire treatment session takes less than a half-hour. Dr. Bank customizes your treatment based on your specific needs.

Your Recovery & Results

The minimally invasive nature of KYBELLA treatments means there is little downtime associated with your recovery. You'll probably notice some swelling and bruising in the first couple of days following the injections. Icepacks and over-the-counter pain relief are generally all that's needed to keep you comfortable.

As the swelling and bruising fade, you'll begin to notice the results of the treatment. Results from more than 20 clinical studies involving 2,600 patients showed that most were highly satisfied after 2 to 4 treatments. A sleeker neckline and stronger-looking chin improved the confidence of patients who participated in the clinical studies.
