3 Aesthetic Treatments to Consider During Winter

3 Aesthetic Treatments to Consider During Winter

When you’re in the thick of winter, it sometimes seems like warmer weather will never come. But it will. Will you be ready?

Once the coats, sweaters, and leggings come off, you may find that your body isn’t quite yet beach ready. But if you start now by selecting winter-friendly aesthetic procedures, it can be.

Our team of expert dermatologists at The Center for Dermatology Cosmetic & Laser Surgery in Mount Kisco, New York, wants you to feel proud of your appearance year-round. To reach your aesthetic goals this summer, however, you may do best to start on certain treatments now.

Whisk away unwanted hair

If you have unwanted hair on your legs, underarms, or elsewhere on your body, winter is the perfect time to start laser hair removal treatments. Your hair grows in cycles. The heat from the laser targets the pigment in hair shafts when your hairs are in their earliest growth phase.

Once the follicle that grows and supports a hair is targeted by the laser, it can no longer function optimally. The hair falls out. Usually, it doesn’t regrow. If it does regrow, it’s lighter and finer than the original hair.

However, your hairs are at different stages of growth at any one time. Therefore, it takes a number of treatments to “zap” all of your unwanted hairs, separated by a month or so to allow your skin to recover and new hair growth to form. We usually recommend 3-5 sessions.

We use the LightSheer® laser system from Lumenis® to painlessly remove unwanted hair while leaving your surrounding skin untouched. Its unique ChillTip™ device is such an advanced system that you don’t even need an anesthetic.

You can use the LightSheer system to remove unwanted hair from virtually anywhere, including legs, bikini lines, and armpits. We can even remove facial hair, such as unwanted mustaches or sideburns.

Sculpt your perfect body curves

If you’re frustrated by genetically resistant fat, winter is the perfect time to sculpt away unwanted inches. We use one-and-done liposuction to vacuum away fat on your:

Unlike nonsurgical body contouring treatments, you don’t need a series of liposuction sessions. We remove unwanted fat all at once. However, you do need time to recover from the procedure before unveiling your beach-ready body.

You usually need to wear compression garments for the first three days after your liposuction. Luckily, you can hide them easily under winter leggings and sweaters. You may also be slightly bruised and swollen for at least six weeks. Again, winter clothes help hide your recovery.

Rejuvenate your facial skin

Although your face is bare during the winter, you’re less likely to spend time outdoors in the sun (unless you love winter sports). Therefore, it’s a great time to give your appearance a lift with nonsurgical facial rejuvenation treatments. We offer a variety of treatments, including:

As with most nonsurgical aesthetic therapies, you may need a series of treatments to reach your goals.

You also need to be extra vigilant in protecting your skin from the sun’s damaging rays. Luckily, winter makes it easier to keep your healing skin safe with hats, sunscreen, and lots of time indoors.
