Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that is found throughout the body. It gives, for example, volume to the skin, lubricates the joints and gives the eye its shape.
It is the first and only FDA-approved injectable dermal filler made of non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid or NASHA.
Restylane represents the next frontier of soft tissue fillers since:
- It effectively erases lines and folds by adding volume beneath the skin's surface to lift the skin and smooth out the wrinkle or fold.
- It's made of a natural substance already found in the human body, so it's safe and completely biodegradable.
- It's not derived from an animal or human source, so it's pure, and does not pose a risk of allergy or disease transmission.
- It's long-lasting, but not permanent, so it is naturally broken down over time.
- It has a decade long track record for being safe, effective and trusted by physicians and patients in over 60 countries.
- Studies have shown that the average treatment results last six months or even longer.
- Restylane lasts twice as long as collagen. Evidence shows that having a touch-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated will enhance the lasting effect.
Patient Instructions - Before Treatment
Restylane requires no pretesting, but you should take a few precautions before being treated. Avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplement prior to treatment because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another recurrence.
